Some Painting and Trim Work

The aft side aluminum windows and engine intake vents were looking very worse for wear. The aluminum wasn't damaged (much), but the multiple layers of poorly-applied paint was flaking, chipping, and there was subsequent oxidation occurring with the aluminum. So it was time to redo and prettify.

I don't have a good before picture, but we took the engine vents off and used multiple coats of CitriStrip to remove most of the old paint from both sides, and then lots of elbow grease to scrape off much of the rest. Then hand sanding to remove the remainder. There were a few dings which were repaired with an epoxy filler.

Then two coats of a marine primer, and three coats of a two-part epoxy paint, and voila! New hardware and everything not only looks great, but is protected well too.

Also finally repaired the aft deck vinyl flybridge floor. Used contact cement to re-adhere it to the fiberglass, then reinstalled the original (re-varnished) trim using butyl tape to make sure no water comes in and begins to undermine the vinyl again. Looks great!

Independence Day on Whidbey

Took our annual trip to Whidbey to see our good friends Dawn and John. Accompanying us were our other good friends Ginny and Torben on their big yacht Honore. Took off on July 2nd, enjoyed Freeland fireworks on July 3rd, and headed to Oak Harbor for July 4th.

Vindicator @ Winter

Had quite the snowstorm in Seattle, so headed to the boat to make sure everything was great. The walk down the dock was gorgeous, as was Vindicator.
